150 years in the ice and radiation of Jupiter’s moon has left a small community irrevocably changed—right down to their DNA. When a probe from a space station drops out of the sky with an offer of “rescue,” Vlad and his wife Marie have a difficult (and life-altering) choice to make.

Author Elinor Caiman Sands lives and writes in the UK. Her work has appeared in the Defying Doomsday anthology, Cosmos Online, and the Strange Bedfellows Anthology of Political Science Fiction.

Night exploration of the ice cave. Tourists come to check this glacier and icecave in the daytime, which means nobody is around at night. This time i was also lucky and northern lights were turned on. Unluckily the wind was strong and it blew snow all around from the glacier…also on the camera and lens (which can be seen on the top part of the picture..3 circles). White balance was set on cloudy, so blue came out. There was some tweaking of the exposure, shadows and clarity, but mainly this is it. Looks like a fairy-tail. Thank you Tomas, for pressing the button on the camera :) .

Another reprint - this time from the Crossed Genres anthology Fat Girl in a Strange Land. It's a story I'd write quite differently if I were doing it now, and yet it brings together a lot of the ideas I'm most interested in writing about.
