This story has a checkered past. It started life as a 7500 word science fiction story but, after a very helpful critique by Shawna McCarthy at Realms of Fantasy (when she rejected it), it ended up as a 11,500 some odd word fantasy novelette in Interzone and later anthologized in INFINITE SPACE, INFINITE GOD, from Twilight Times and in the "Dark" part of my WindyCon Guest of Honor collection, BIMBO ON THE COVER. It is broken into fourteen parts—each corresponding to a Station of the Cross.
