This quaint sign hangs outside Desperate Literature, an international bookstore in downtown Madrid. Took this during a bookshop photowalk with some friends from my book club.

From the author: If you care about such things.

Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse - a kinetic thriller with fantastic worldbuilding (in multiple senses of that adjective). Can't wait for the next book in the series, due out in April.

How Long 'til Black Future Month? by N.K. Jemisin - short story collection from the multiple award-winning author of the Broken Earth trilogy. An excellent variety of work here.

A Paradise Built in Hell by Rebecca Solnit - I just started this nonfiction book (recommended by Arkady Martine on Tor.com) and so far it's a fascinating account of human kindness.

Next month: I'll be uploading my Playboy Magazine story from last year and sharing some backstory on how I sold it. Meanwhile, I'll continue posting random thoughts weekly. Follow or subscribe to get email updates!
